This has been the first month since we started, that myself and Henry have not been able to meet up in order to discus brewery related plans over a few cold beers. Far from a bad sign, this is simply testament to how busy we have both been. Rest assured that next month there are already two weekend visits planned. I have been working on perfecting new beer styles and jetting off to Singapore for a week, for work, but with enough spare time for some spirited beer related research. After waking up annoyingly early for a Sunday morning and unable to get back to sleep, I decided to make best use of the time and brew a new beer!
The Wellington Inn or ‘the Welly’ is a great little pub located in the rural village of Loppergarth about 2 miles outside of Ulverston towards Barrow-in-Furness. It is also the home of Healey’s Brewery.
The first brewday of 2015 is complete! Today I decided to work on our pale ale No9 following some good feedback from friends that attended the brewery’s first ‘Beer festival’ just after Christmas.
On new year’s eve this year I decided it would be a good idea to head up to Staveley with a few friends to have lunch and sample a few beers at the Hawkshead Brewery then walk it off in the surrounding countryside before heading home for the new year’s celebrations.
